Algebraic reliability: algebraic combinatorics tools for system reliability analysis
Abstract: Reliability analysis is a central topic in systems and networks engineering. Several theoretical and algorithmic tools have been developed for this analysis in the past 60 years. Our contribution to this area is an algebraic approach to the problem, based on monomial ideals in the polynomial ring in as many variables as components of the system. Making use of concepts such as Hilbert function and series, free resolutions and others, we contribute with theoretical tools and efficient algorithms.
